Jhonny O. Scorpaniti (b. 1993) is an Italian photojournalist based in Melbourne. His practice concerns how cultural identity, everyday social conditions, and the environments people move through shape human experience.
Beginning in landscape and travel photography, Scorpaniti later shifted towards documentary image making as a way of engaging more directly with people, place and lived reality. Since he left Italy at the age of 21, Scorpaniti has used photography as a means of witnessing, connecting and responding to the world around him. His practice is guided by a desire to give back to the communities and individuals who have shaped his journey, using visual practice to contribute to a more humane world.
His work has been exhibited in Fresh at Photography Studies College’s Capture Gallery (2024), Summer Salon at Trace Gallery (2024), at Photography Studies College’s Open Day (2025), and in Subtext at Photography Studies College Gallery (2025).
